Biography

Starr Hoffman is the Director of Planning and Assessment at the UNLV Libraries, and has a national reputation in research services—library services that support faculty and student research. She is also recognized in the areas of strategic planning and assessment.

Hoffman has written extensively in these areas, including a recent book: Dynamic Research Support for Academic Libraries (2015), which was reviewed in Library Journal, the foremost trade publication for libraries. She recently published a chapter on “Organization, Administration, Management, and Planning” in the book Academic Librarianship Today (2017), edited by some of the top scholars in academic libraries.

She has spoken at a variety of conferences and events nationally and internationally, including at the Library of Congress where she addressed the Congressional Research Service on an archive of government websites that she managed.

Hoffman has been at UNLV since 2015. Previously, she was Head of the Journalism Library at Columbia University in the City of New York, and prior to that the Head of Government Documents at the University of North Texas.
