Biography

Jayce Farmer is an associate professor in the School of Public Policy and Leadership at the Ê×Ò³| Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­. His research interests and expertise include public finances, state and local government administration, urban affairs and issues, and public policy. He has more than a decade of experience in public fiscal administration, having worked as a policy and budget analyst for local governments in Florida. His budgeting experience includes coordinating and managing the capital budget process for the City of Tallahassee, Florida, as well as overseeing the implementation of several large government funds.

Farmer's experience also includes providing technical assistance to local jurisdictions in Central Texas in their efforts to enhance services for their citizens. In 2016, he conducted several citizen satisfaction surveys for local communities that provided valuable feedback to community leaders. These ongoing surveys are set to provide benchmarking tools for local governments throughout this region. Additionally, his experience in addressing local government issues has also led him to conduct workshops that have allowed him to advise appointed and elected local leaders on how to develop more effective working relationships.

In addition to his practical experience, he conducts research on a wide variety of local government policy and fiscal issues that has been published in several academic journals including: Public Budgeting and Finance, Urban Affairs Review, Public Performance & Management Review, and Publius: The Journal of Federalism.
