For the first time in more than a year, UNLV hosted in-person commencement ceremonies to celebrate the accomplishments of more than 8,000 graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021.
Several thousand grads gathered at Sam Boyd Stadium for four ceremonies this past weekend, and thousands more tuned in from home.
“Commencement is the most important day in the life of a university, and I am honored to speak for everyone at UNLV when I say how truly proud we are of all of our graduates,” said UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield to UNLV’s newest alumni. “You are the highly skilled professionals who will bring new ideas and creative leadership to our state’s workforce - assets we’ll need as we emerge from this pandemic stronger and more resilient.”
Nearly one in three of UNLV’s grads are the first in their families to earn a four-year degree, and nearly two-thirds stay and work in Southern Nevada.
Since 1964, UNLV has awarded more than 150,000 degrees. Watch the highlights:
