The Cannabis Policy Institute held a , the first event in its Cannabis Speaker Series, on March 5, 2024 at the William S. Boyd School of Law's Thomas & Mack Moot Courtroom. The discussion, moderated by Jardín Cannabis Dispensary Chief of Staff Marc Hauser, included a panel of experts: Robin Goldstein, author, economist and director of The Cannabis Economics Group at UC Davis; John Hudak, former Brookings expert and director of the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy; and Judah Zakalik, CPI board member, cultivation owner, and attorney. Among the topics covered, the speakers discussed rescheduling and descheduling, the illegal market, falling prices, intoxicating hemp and the 2018 Farm Bill, and the future of distribution and regulation as it relates to interstate commerce.
The CPI’s Cannabis Speakers Series will continue in May with its “State of Research” discussion, followed by the “Gaming and Cannabis” panel in August.
