Tyler D. Parry (Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies) along with Robert Greene II of Claflin University, co-edited the volume, , published last month by the University of South Carolina Press. This singular volume explores the lives and experiences of Black people at the University of South Carolina through the eras of slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, civil rights, black power, and Black Lives Matter. He also contributed a chapter, "Irrespective of Race or Color: Examining Desegregation at the Reconstructed University of South Carolina, 1868-1877." The volume also features an afterword written by Henrie Monteith Treadwell, who was one of the three students who desegregated the university in 1963 and the first Black woman to attend the institution. Parry is a professor in the African American and African Diaspora Studies Program
