In the article, first offered as a plenary talk in Venice, Italy, in 2019, Byrne studies the relationship between creative and juridical writings in early modern Spain through the lens of Miguel de Cervantes and a manuscript written by the creative author's contemporary, Spanish judge Antonio de la Peña.
