Su Kim Chung (Libraries) moderated "Fishnets & Spotlights: The Latin Quarter and 'John Hemmer & the Showgirls" at the Clark County Library last month. The panel covered the many New York producers, choreographers, and performers who migrated to Las Vegas when the Manhattan nightclub heyday dwindled. The event included a screening of the documentary, John Hemmer & the Showgirls, a story about the mid-century nightclub era as told through the personal and professional journey of singer/entertainer John Hemmer and his peers. The panel included veteran nightclub performers Sal Angelica and Lilli Bell Lopez discussing the nightlife era of the mid-century New York, The Latin Quarter, and the impact it had on Las Vegas.
