The UNLV Residence Hall Association () won the “” award from the Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (IACURH) at the association’s annual business conference held at Boise State University in Idaho earlier this month. RHA was recognized both for the organization’s response to initiating UNLV’s ‘1 October’ vigil after the shooting and follow-up efforts working with upper administration on campus security improvements.
The honor recognizes the efforts of RHA organizations that have worked collaboratively with other departments to improve safety and the overall campus experience for students. The award is voted on by student leaders from Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
As this year's regional nominee from the intermountain region, RHA’s bid now will compete against seven other award nominees from the different geographic regions of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) at the annual conference that will take place at Arizona State University-Tempe in May.
UNLV’s award bid was written by Robert Evans, RHA president, and Jonathan Diehl, association vice president.
