Rebecca Rice (Communication Studies) published an article in Communication Monographs, titled The article considered how collaborations among multiple organizations are influenced by constructs of masculinity and femininity so that organizations that are feminized in interactions experience reduced influence over the collaboration, while organizations that are deemed masculine may enjoy increased influence. The study brought feminist theory into collaboration scholarship and found that gender is a constitutive force in how organizations make sense of their collaborations and manage tensions in these collaborations.
