Doctoral student Rachel DeWald (Psychology, Brain Health) received the Spring 2022 cover artwork award for the . The Office of Undergraduate Research solicits student submissions for the award to have a student-designed cover for each spring and fall issue. The competitive award intends to foster student participation in the undergraduate research publication process and to better incorporate artistic and creative works into the research ecosystem at UNLV. The award is accompanied by a $250 monetary prize and a plaque.
Given the journal’s mission to include works from all disciplines, DeWald “...wanted to create a cover that embodied both an artistic and scientific feel [since she is] both an artist and a scientist.” She notes that “bringing those two worlds together is an important aspect of [her] life.” Using a rainbow of colors, she wanted to “represent what a spectrum of diversity looks like.”
