Kavita Batra, has been selected to serve as Deputy Editor for Elsevier’s latest publication, Journal of Medicine, Surgery and Public Health. The newly launched journal will take a worldwide view of disease and health, encouraging submissions that look at priority problems and those that take a global, national, or regional focus on health problems, quality of life, and disease prevention or treatment.
“It is an exciting opportunity to serve the purpose of scientific writing in the fields of medicine, surgery and public health, especially in the post-acute phase of the pandemic when our approach to public health needs to be reimagined,” Batra said. There is an ongoing debate about having more women and minority editors for journals in medicine and science worldwide.
"Dr. Batra's selection is important on many levels for our scientific communities and for the field of medicine and public health, says Dr. Marc J. Kahn, dean of Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV and vice president for Health Affairs.
