David Grant Sinclair (Urban Affairs) wrote an article, "Food Deserts of Las Vegas: An Overview with a Vertical Solution," which appears in Journal of the West. The article examines the cyclic creation of food deserts and their pervasive role in economic and health outcomes of Nevadans living in areas without access to fresh foods. He also presents a proposal to eradicate food deserts using already existing resources and state-sponsored vertical farming initiatives.
