Claytee White (Oral History Research Center) had a busy 2014. She participated in panels and lectures throughout Nevada, serving as the keynote speaker honoring civil rights pioneer Jimmy Gay at the Garden of Dreams, the presenter on African-American history at the 5th Street School Design Center, the moderator and discussion leader on the history of Block 17 at the Mob Museum, and a panel participant on civil rights history at several other events. She also presented numerous oral history workshops for local community organizations, including the Neon Museum, the Black Genealogical Society, and the Family History Group of the Holy Lutheran Church, raising awareness about the UNLV University Libraries African American Experience Project within the community and beyond.
