UNLV's Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach was awarded five Educational Talent Search grants through the Department of Education. Combined these grants are funded for $7.6 million and will serve more than 3,000 low-income and/or first-generation middle and high school students at 18 Clark County target schools over the five-year grant period.
The goal of the Educational Talent Search grants is to increase the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. Key services include academic advising and counseling, financial literacy, career exploration, tutoring, mentoring, college visits, assistance completing FAFSA and college applications, assistance preparing for college entrance exams, and related workshops for parents/families.
