Kristine Jan C. Espinoza and Blanca Rincón (both Educational Psychology and Higher Education), Lawrence Letourneau (Academic Enrichment and Outreach), Judd Harbin (Student Affairs), and Brent M. Drake (Decision Support) have received a $10,000 research grant award from to fund a research project entitled, “Oceania in the Desert: Exploring and Disaggregating Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) Data at an R1 Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI),” focusing on what data disaggregation can reveal about the counting of native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander student enrollment on at UNLV.
The grant is part of the APIA Scholars Strengthening Institutional Capacity for NHPI Students in Higher Education Program for 2021-2022, supported by Ascendium, The Kresge Foundation, and Nakupuna Foundation.
