Blanca E. Rincón and Juanita K. Hinojosa (both Educational Psychology & Higher Education) recently co-authored a journal article, , that appears in the most recent issue of Race Ethnicity and Education.
The study investigates how familial capital manifests amongst students of color as they pursue STEM pathways and navigate postsecondary education. Study findings suggest that students extend cultural notions of family to their relationships with peers, staff, and administrators to (re)create familial relationships and spaces on campus that serve as conduits for activating students’ familial capital.
