The report includes data from 30 years of follow-up from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases-funded Diabetes Control and Complications Trial and the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications cohort. These findings suggest the need for lowering these lipids in Type 1 diabetes to reduce cardiovascular disease mortality.
