Anthony King, Shane Kraus, and Gloria Wong-Padoongpatt (all Psychology) recently presented their research, "Examining the role of responsible gambling in associations between symptoms of trauma, gambling disorder, and gambling motivations: Results from a nationwide U.S. sample," at the 16th Annual Nevada State Conference on Problem Gambling. This presentation demonstrated how coping motives for gambling appear to be the most significant factor involved in the relationship between trauma symptoms and gambling-related problems, with people who reported more trauma symptoms being more likely to use gambling as a way to cope with their emotional states.
