In co-sponsorship with the Graduate College, Brookings Mountain West was pleased to offer a workshop with Brookings Senior Fellow in Governance Studies, John Hudak, Ph.D. Hudak’s research focuses on Presidential power, marijuana policy, and various issues within campaigns and elections. A graduate of Vanderbilt University (Ph.D. in Political Science), Hudak currently serves as Deputy Director for the Center for Effective Public Management and formerly served as the Program Director for the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions. In this informative and interactive workshop, Hudak discussed the powers and limitations of the executive branch as well as different careers available within public policy.
By participating in this workshop, attendees:
- Learned about the powers of the President and executive branch
- Understood how the executive and legislative branches interact
- Learned about the policy-influencing/policy-making career paths
