CSUN has allocated $323,000 to undergraduate Registered Student Organization funding for the 2024-2025 academic year. With more than 450 RSOs on campus, the Ways & Means Committee makes full efforts to accommodate as many funding requests as possible. While there is no firm deadline to submit a funding request, the application will close when funds for the year have been depleted. With this in mind, the Committee encourages RSO leaders to submit funding requests early in the academic year.

Below you will find the procedure for requesting funds from CSUN for your Registered Student Organization (RSO). Questions should be directed to the Ways and Means Committee Chair at waysandmeans@unlv.edu.

The Ways & Means committee utilizes the , UNLV’s online portal for RSOs on campus, as the submission platform for RSO funding requests.  Please see below for full-tutorials on how to submit your funding request through the .

How to Check the Status of Your CSUN Funding Request

In accordance with the CSUN Ways & Means Operating Policy, all RSOs who receive funding must submit receipts of their purchases to verify that funds were spent as per their Senate-approved budget. Organizations who fail to submit their receipts will be ineligible for CSUN funding the following year and may be reported to the Office of Student Conduct.

How to Submit Receipts

If funds were disbursed by CSUN to an RSO but were not spent in accordance with their Senate-approved budget, the RSO must return those funds to CSUN. Funds should be returned in the form of a check made out to the NSHE Board of Regents. For more information about returning funds to CSUN, email waysandmeans@unlv.edu.

What's a supplier ID? Do I need this?

Any RSO looking for funding from a UNLV entity, such as CSUN, must be a registered supplier.

If you experience difficulties with the site or the details of your application, please email purchasingunlv@unlv.edu with questions.

What's an EIN/Tax ID?

Each RSO must provide their Employer Identification Number (EIN)/Tax ID to CSUN. EINs are issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and are used to identify a business entity or organization. In order to register as a supplier with NSHE, you had to provide your EIN in the application process. Still have questions about EINS?

How do I set up a bank account?

We cannot provide any specific instructions on how RSOs manage their funds in non-UNLV accounts but the following is common among other organizations. Most other RSOs choose to open a bank account under the RSO's name. US Bank (located on the 1st floor of the SU) is the most common due to proximity and their familiarity with our RSOs, but other banks are also utilized. A few notes about opening a non-UNLV bank account:

  • It is optimal to make sure multiple people in your organization have access to the funds in that account and to make financial decisions
  • Think hard about how you will make sure there is accountability and transparency for your organization's funds
  • Devise a method for passing down financial information to the next generations of members
Do I need to use the budget and cover letter templates provided?

Yes, it provides a method for ensuring consistency and efficiency for Senators to understand your funding request.

Were not all of your needs met?

Due to limited available funding resources, CSUN may not be able to fund all of your organization’s financial needs. If you need to do additional fundraising for your organization, we recommend utilizing , UNLV’s official crowdfunding platform.

How long will it take for the funding to arrive after approval?

Typically funds will be disbursed within two weeks of your approval by the Senate, although that timeline may be fluid due to several mitigating factors. We encourage RSOs to set-up direct deposit with their NSHE Supplier Registration to facilitate the quickest disbursement of funds. We also encourage you to check the status of your funding request in the (see tutorial above) as the CSUN Business Manager will post any updates to your disbursement there.
