Dear UNLV Community,
Reflecting upon the heartbreak of the last few weeks, we want to express our sincerest appreciation for your unwavering commitment and resilience. Your dedication has been instrumental in navigating the complexities of the physical and emotional trauma we have endured.
As we begin to look toward the future, your safety and well-being remain our top priority. We’re focused on a healthy Rebel recovery effort that includes defining and implementing security and operational changes, and restoring our facilities before the start of the new semester. To allow time for this work to take place, we encourage faculty and staff who work on the Maryland Parkway campus and have the support of their supervisor to continue to work remotely until Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.
Jan. 8 will not only mark a physical transition to the new semester with employees returning to campus, but also a symbolic step toward a stronger UNLV. Details about timelines regarding continued improvements, safety protocols, and additional information will be shared as we progress.
To those employees who have continued their on-campus presence, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your hard work throughout this challenging time.
We continue to remind everyone to reach out to one another, and to use the numerous wellness and counseling resources available at UNLV and through the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center and our Employee Assistance Program.
Wishing you a peaceful holiday season,
Keith E. Whitfield, Ph.D.
