The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Keith Rogers, DBA, as vice president for student affairs, effective June 1, 2023. Dr. Rogers had been successfully serving in an interim capacity since last July, earning him praise from the campus community and the Division of Student Affairs. This positive feedback paved the way for his permanent appointment to the position.

As leader of the Division of Student Affairs, Rogers has oversight of a broad range of student-focused programs and services. These initiatives aim to improve the college experience outside the classroom, helping students thrive and preparing them for future success.

During his tenure as interim vice president, Rogers achieved a number of significant milestones. Among these was the transition of residential life in-house operations, generating substantial annual savings, and the renovation of the university bookstore, creating an enhanced student gathering space.

“Dr. Rogers’ accomplishments over the past year are a testament to his dedication to student success and well-being,” said President Keith E. Whitfield. “His leadership has had a transformative effect on Student Affairs, and we anticipate continued progress and innovation in the permanent role.”

Executive Vice President and Provost Chris L. Heavey echoed these sentiments, expressing his confidence in Rogers’ leadership. “Dr. Rogers has shown a deep understanding of our university’s student success goals, and his impressive record of achievements over the past year indicates that he is ideally placed to guide the Division of Student Affairs into a promising future.”

Rogers has also made important strides in divisional grant activity and philanthropy. His team submitted over two dozen proposals in 2022.  More than half were awarded, with a total value near $20 million. He also increased scholarship pledges and worked to secure bookstore savings for students.

In response to his appointment, Rogers expressed his enthusiasm for the future. “I am incredibly excited and deeply honored by the opportunity to continue serving the UNLV community in this role. With the support of our dedicated faculty and staff, and in concert with our vibrant student community, I believe we can continue to drive positive change, enhance our campus culture, and create an environment that fosters both academic and personal success for all our students.”

Rogers earned his doctoral degree in business administration from Grand Canyon University. He is an alumnus of UNLV with a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in management information systems. His professional qualifications include certification as a Project Management Professional and a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
