The UNLV Division of Jazz and Commercial Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of its award-winning jazz ensemble program at 7:30 p.m. on April 25 In Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 general admission through the PAC Box Office.
The ensemble, composed of UNLV alumni from across the country and abroad, will perform a program of original compositions and arrangements by UNLV alumni, including Dennis Mackrel, who was part of the Count Basie Orchestra as a drummer and composer/arranger. Kenny Rampton, current member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, also will be a featured trumpet soloist with the acclaimed UNLV Jazz Ensemble I, conducted by Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye.
Monday, April 24 Jazz ensembles II and III, and UNLV's Jazz Vocal Choirs, will perform at Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 general admission through the PAC Box Office.
Wednesday, April 26 features Contemporary Jazz Ensemble, Studio Scarlet (Premiere Jazz Vocal Ensemble), and the Latin Latin Jazz Ensemble. The concert also takes place at Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 general admission through the PAC Box Office.
