The UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration will honor hospitality industry executives for their outstanding contributions to hospitality education at its annual Dinner of Distinction on Thursday, June 9 at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino Ballroom. Cocktails, silent auction and book signing start at 6 p.m. with dinner and awards at 7 p.m. The Master of Ceremonies is Don Snyder, former president of Boyd Gaming Corporation.
The book signing event features special guest Jerome Vallen, founding dean of the College of Hotel Administration. He will sign copies of his recently published history of the founding of the college, "The Right Place: An Anecdotal History of the UNLV College of Hotel Administration (2005)." The Las Vegas Review-Journal named Vallen among the 100 most important Las Vegans of the 20 th century.
Following, Dean Stuart Mann will present awards to the following recipients:
- Bill McBeath '86, President and COO of Bellagio Hotel & Casino - Alumnus of the Year
- Richard Melman, Chairman and Founder of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises - Industry Executive Award, Food & Beverage Management
- Steven Hacker, President of the International Association for Exhibition Management - Industry Executive Award, Tourism & Convention Administration
- Stan Bromley, Regional Vice-President for Four Seasons Hotels - Industry Executive Award, Hotel Management
The Dean's Medal of Distinction will be awarded to an individual professional or executive who has throughout his or her career demonstrated excellence in hospitality. This award recipient will be announced the evening of the event.
