The chairman of UNLV's department of sociology is building a list of persons in Southern Nevada who hold degrees in sociology or majored in the field while in college and who are now employed in business, government, education, or other occupational fields.
"This list wouldn't be used for fund raising but would serve as a resource and as information for undergraduate and graduate students who want to know what they can do with their sociology degrees," said Dr. James Frey.
Some of the individuals on the list he plans to compile may be asked to speak to the undergraduate Sociology Club on career opportunities or on how their sociology degrees contributed to their career choices and accomplishments, Frey said.
"Having a list like this will give students a better idea of the wide range of occupational opportunities that are available to sociology majors," Frey said.
Frey asks those who wish to respond to send their names, professional positions, addresses, and phone numbers to the Department of Sociology, UNLV, 4505 Maryland Pkwy., Las Vegas, NV, 89154-5033, in care of Jim Frey, chair. Or they may send it via e-mail to Frey at frey@nevada.edu. Respondents may also call the department office at (702)
