For an entertaining and informative look at women's achievements in science, plan on attending the presentation of "Miz Wizard's Science Secrets" at UNLV on Feb. 11.

The show, performed by Jane Curry, promises insights into women's contributions to the fields of science, engineering, and math and into the obstacles that women have overcome while working in those fields.

The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre. It is free and open to the public.

"Jane Curry's performances are a real treat," said Joyce Nelson-Leaf, director of UNLV's Educational Equity Resource Center, one of the sponsors of the show. "The audience will have a great time, while at the same time learning a lot about what women have achieved in the fields of science and math. The show she did here last year, called "Nice Girls Don't Sweat," was hilarious."

Curry, who is an author, storyteller, performer, and self-described "recovering academic," has performed her solo shows nationally and internationally since 1983. Before that, she spent nine seasons touring with the Minnesota Chautauqua. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband, two cats, and a snowblower.

In addition to UNLV's Educational Equity Resource Center, Curry's appearance on campus is sponsored by the Las Vegas chapter of the American Association of University Women.
