Dozens of gaming regulators from across the United States will be joined by counterparts from Canada and South Africa at UNLV later this month when they participate in the second session of the 1996 Gaming Regulator Seminars.
The seminar, which will take place on campus July 29-31, is the advanced level of the gaming regulator seminars offered by the UNLV International Gaming Institute. This session will focus on auditing and internal controls for casinos.
Regulators from 12 states will participate in the seminar.
"We have carefully picked topics for our advanced seminar that we believe will provide the participants with the tools they need for quality gaming regulation," said Shannon Bybee, director of the UNLV International Gaming Institute.
Among the topics to be discussed at the seminar are casino operations and internal controls, independent accountants' approaches to casino audits and the regulatory process, internal auditors and the regulatory process, financial assessment of casino operations, and mathematics of table games and statistical deviation analysis.
Other topics will include casino marketing and table games statistics, mathematics of slot machines and performance evaluation, analyzing slot monitoring systems, auditing casino computer applications, preventing casino fraud, and casino cage operations.
