At least 150 businesses are expected to set up booths at UNLV's Career Day '97, scheduled for Feb. 26 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
"Advance reservations for this year's event are going extremely well," said Eileen McGarry, UNLV's director of career services. "I wouldn't be surprised if we have more than 150 businesses participating in Career Day. It looks like we made a good move in relocating the event to Thomas & Mack so that we could accommodate more people."
Career Day gives people who currently are seeking jobs or will be seeking jobs in the near future the chance to meet with prospective employers. Students can use Career Day as an opportunity to talk with employers to find out what they can do now to make themselves more marketable when they enter the job market.
Last year's event attracted nearly 4,000 students, alumni, and community members, McGarry said.
This year Career Day will take place from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and will feature a series of workshops on topics such as dressing for success and using the Internet for advanced job surfing. Door prizes will be given.
Career Day is sponsored by Career Services; UNLV's student government, the Consolidated Students of the University of Nevada; and the UNLV Alumni Association.
