Jeffrey Ebersole and Linh Nguyen (Dental) and Arpita Basu (Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences) co-authored “Age and Periodontal Health – Immunological View,” which focused on biological aging instead of chronological aging to help account for population variation in disease expression. The findings may suggest that chronic periodontitis represents a co-morbidity that contributes to “gerovulnerability” within the population. The study appears in print within the December issue of Current Oral Health Reports.
