Jeffrey Ebersole (Dental) co-authored two articles that appeared in the October issue of Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology. The first, used a nonhuman primate model to profile the transcriptome and change and tissues health across the lifespan, and produced results that suggests healthy gingival aging has a relatively limited impact on the broader functions of the epithelium and epithelial cells.
The second, presents an innovative hypothesis about a potential mechanism involved in P. gingivalis-induced oral dysbiosis and inflammation based on previous observations and a robust body of literature that supports the antimicrobial and proinflammatory properties of PLA2-IIA, as well as its role in other chronic inflammatory diseases.
