The 13-member commission oversees preservation activities in the city for buildings, structures, and places of historical and architectural significance. It reviews historic designation applications to the National Register of Historic Places and the city of Las Vegas Historic Property Register. White, the director of the UNLV Center for Oral History Research, first was appointed to the commission in 2006.
